Our upcoming plans and new ideas
At Maya Ko Sansar (World of Love), we believe that change is not only possible—it is inevitable when driven by vision, determination, and love. Our experiences have shown us that real transformation takes time, courage, and community solidarity. As we move forward, we are excited to share our upcoming initiatives and fresh ideas designed to uplift, empower, and protect the LGBTQIA+ community—especially transgender sex workers, male and female sex workers, and vulnerable individuals living on the margins of society.
1. Establishing Vocational Training Centers
We plan to set up dedicated vocational training centers where community members can receive hands-on skills in trades such as tailoring, cosmetology, digital literacy, computer skills, arts and crafts, hospitality, and other market-relevant fields. These centers will aim to promote self-reliance, economic empowerment, and professional dignity, opening new doors for those often excluded from mainstream employment opportunities due to gender identity or profession.
2. Creating Safe Housing and Shelter Centers
Many transgender and queer individuals—especially those in sex work—face housing discrimination and homelessness. We aim to build safe, secure, and inclusive shelter homes, especially for transgender women, survivors of violence, and elderly members of the community. These centers will offer not just a roof, but also emotional support, counseling, and basic amenities, giving people a chance to rebuild their lives with stability and dignity.
3. Mental Health & Substance Rehabilitation Centers
Mental health is a critical yet overlooked issue in the LGBTQIA+ community. With trauma, discrimination, and rejection taking a toll, many turn to substance use for temporary relief. We are working toward launching community-based mental health and rehabilitation centers that offer therapy, psychiatric care, peer support, and addiction recovery services tailored to the needs of our community—run by trained professionals who understand and respect gender and sexual diversity.
4. Strong Legal Advocacy for Reform
We are committed to intensifying our efforts toward legal reform and policy advocacy. This includes:
Fighting for the decriminalization of sex work
Advocating for gender-inclusive legal recognition
Pushing for laws that penalize hate crimes, police abuse, and workplace discrimination
Working to ensure access to justice and legal aid for transgender and sex worker communities
Our legal advocacy will be backed by research, documentation, and strong partnerships with legal experts, human rights institutions, and grassroots allies.
5. Scholarship Programs for Children of Sex Workers
We believe that every child deserves the chance to dream, learn, and grow, regardless of their parent’s profession. To help break the cycle of poverty and stigma, Maya Ko Sansar plans to launch scholarship programs for the children of sex workers. These will cover school fees, uniforms, books, and mentorship support to ensure that no child is left behind simply because of societal prejudice.
6. Building a National Network for Collective Strength
Unity is power. That’s why we aim to create a strong national network of LGBTQIA+ sex workers, activists, and allies across Nepal. Through this network, we will share knowledge, organize national dialogues, support grassroots movements, and amplify the voices of marginalized communities in national and international forums. A united front will allow us to resist systemic oppression more effectively and drive impactful change together.
7. Campaign to Increase LGBTQIA+ Representation in National Security Forces
Representation matters—especially in spaces of power and authority. We will launch a national campaign to increase the inclusion of LGBTQIA+ individuals in Nepal’s national security sector, including the police, military, and civil service. This will challenge discriminatory recruitment policies, ensure protection within the system, and pave the way for a society where everyone—regardless of gender identity—can serve with pride and integrity.
At Maya Ko Sansar, we believe that transformation begins with bold ideas and compassionate action. These upcoming plans are not just strategies; they are commitments rooted in our lived realities, our hopes, and our unshakable belief in justice, equality, and dignity for all.
We invite you—government institutions, civil society, international partners, and allies—to stand with us and turn these ideas into action.
Together, let’s build a Nepal where no one is left behind.
