Promoting the rights and dignity of transgender, female, and male sex workers

At Maya Ko Sansar (World of Love), we believe that sex work is work, and every sex worker—whether transgender, female, or male—deserves to live with dignity, protection, and full recognition of their human rights.

For too long, sex workers in Nepal have been pushed to the margins of society, treated with shame instead of respect, and viewed through a lens of criminality instead of compassion. Transgender sex workers, in particular, face the double burden of gender-based discrimination and systemic stigma associated with their profession. They are frequently subjected to verbal abuse, police harassment, violence, and exclusion from public services and opportunities.

We work every day to challenge these injustices by promoting a society where sex workers are not judged by their profession, but respected for their humanity. Our approach combines community empowerment, public education, policy advocacy, and grassroots support to protect the rights of sex workers and improve their quality of life.

Through our outreach, we organize legal rights training, peer support groups, and public awareness campaigns that aim to shift the narrative—from shame to strength, from invisibility to visibility, from criminalization to dignity. We also work directly with government bodies, health institutions, and the police to ensure sex workers are treated fairly, without fear or discrimination.

We amplify the voices of sex workers in policy discussions, ensuring they are no longer spoken for, but speak for themselves. Our programs are led by people with lived experiences of sex work, because we know that real change begins when those most affected are the ones leading the way.

Promoting the rights and dignity of sex workers isn’t just about advocacy—it’s about reclaiming humanity, restoring justice, and creating safe, empowering spaces for people who’ve long been silenced.

Together, we are building a future where no one is seen as less because of who they are or what they do to survive.
